About
I’m Ben Nelson. I help golfers make lasting improvements to their game
I began my golfing journey before I could walk and was breaking my parent’s kitchen tiles with a cut down persimmon driver not long after that.
I played all through high school and was an accomplished player posting a 34.5 scoring average for nine holes my senior year.
I attended NC State University where I studied both Professional Golf Management and Finance. Throughout college I had the pleasure of working at Interlachen CC, The Landing at Reynolds, The Taylormade Kingdom at Reynolds, Nike Golf, and Club Champion.
After graduating, in 2015, I have had the pleasure of coaching at GOLFTEC, working at GOLFTEC HQ on their Merchandise & Club Fitting team, developing, testing, and designing equipment at Tour Edge, coaching and fitting at SMART Golf & Fitness, and now coaching and fitting as an Independently Contracted Coach.
I founded Vanquish Golf Works and designed my own training tool, A-LINE, during Covid and to this day am working to grow and expand that busienss!

I am a strong believer in cause and effect. If you want to improve your swing, we have to start where the pattern starts to unravel. Fortunately for us, if we do, you'll make changes that will last a life time.
My Coaching Philosophy
When it comes to making lasting changes, there are three things that I strongly believe.
Number one, you have to find the root cause of the issue and start your work there. If you don’t all the changes you make further down the pattern will quickly wither away.
Number two, cause and effect. If we want to figure out why something is happening, we need to understand the function of the pattern we’re trying to get rid of. If we don’t replace that pattern with another, better pattern, that accomplishes the same thing, that pattern will persist.
Third, once we know what we need to do, it’s all about how we practice it an implement it. Taking brand new information to the first tee the very next day is asking for disaster. We need to make sure our pattern is smooth and comfortable at slow speeds before we expect it to translate to fast pace on the course.
